Cuisinart BFP-703CH SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor, Chrome

Cuisinart BFP-703CH SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor, Chrome Review

This is the best blender I've ever owned. It's up to the challenge of ice, which is great because I love smoothies. I've had it for almost 2 years. Every other blender I've owned has died...this one's a survivor.

Cuisinart BFP-703CH SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor, Chrome Feature

  • 350-watt combination unit saves space and tackles a wide range of cooking tasks
  • 3 cups food processor bowl, 40-ounce glass blender jar--great for parties
  • User-friendly, 7-speed, touch pad control with indicator lights
  • Includes 1 standard blade and 1 slicing/shredding disc
  • Measures 16 by 6-1/2 by 6 inches; 3-year limited warranty

Cuisinart BFP-703CH SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor, Chrome Overview

It's like two appliances in one! All the power and versatility you expect from a Cuisinart food processor, combined with a seven speed glass jar blender. You'll be completely equipped to make an Orange Creamsicle Shake or Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake with Raspberry Sauce. The economy of design demonstrated by the SmartPower Duet is impressive, and sure to be especially appreciated by those with limited storage.

Cuisinart BFP-703CH SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor, Chrome Specifications

Two powerful kitchen appliances have been brought together in this blender/food processor by Cuisinart. The heavy-duty motor base is up to both blending and processing tasks, and won't "walk" on the counter, even when it's crushing ice. Use the blender with its dripless pour spout to make and serve 40 ounces of frozen drinks or to purée baby foods or soups; use the processor to prep up to 3 cups of vegetables, cheeses, nuts, and meats. With one motor base, it's simple to keep the blender out on the counter and then bring out the processor attachment for special tasks.

This is an amazingly sturdy product, with tight-fitting lids, a heavy glass blender jar, and a motor that chops meat or ice with equal aplomb. Most attachments are dishwasher-safe, and the flat touch pad, which has seven settings (including ice crush and pulse), is easily wiped down with a sponge. This dual appliance comes with a booklet that explains how to use all the features and lists 48 recipes, from cranberry-orange mimosas to classic mayonnaise. --Maria Dolan

Processor didn't last long - Tere Stool - Dallas Texas
Loved the blender and processor until the plastic lid on the processor broke. A small piece of the locking mechanism made of plastic broke off.

AWFUL! - Christine Trayner -
In the effort to save space we settled for this dual blender/processor. It was great for about 1 usage and then the food processor wouldn't work. It first whined so loud my dog went and hid upstairs in the closet until I was finished. The next time I tried to use it, the blade wouldn't fit into the processor container. When it finally fit, it wouldn't actually turn the blade. Everything was positioned correctly, but it still to this day won't turn.
Don't buy this. Awful.

Blender melted! - A Customer -
I have had this blender/processor for about 4 years and used it rarely until recently. I have been eating more smoothies in hopes to lose weight. It does not chop up frozen fruit - not even when i let it sit out and start to thaw. It smells like smoking plastic very often, but I saw nothing wrong. Then today I am making a smoothie with frozen cherries and all other foods at room temp. I could see the chunks of cherries spinning around and not getting chopped up. Then the power started to fade, there was a large POP! and then it sounded like it was supercharged. I immediately turned it off and then smoke stated billowing out from under the pitcher and up out of my smoothie!!! The bottom of the blender blade that has the notches that hook to the motor's notches. The notches on the blade where sheared off! Needless to say, I can't have my smoothie.

As for the food processor, I found it to be of a size that was not useful. Too small for 4 person meals and too large for 1 person meals. Never had any mechanical problems though.

I would not recommend this product.

acceptable function for the price - abacus6 -
Modestly capable for a low price. Nothing flashy and the blade section is somewhat smaller than others of its kind. Feels like it has to spin twice as fast to accomplish the same mission. Plus, the base is somewhat bulky compared to others (Oster in particular). But for the price, makes a handy second or back-up mixer.

Hamilton Beach 59770 Turbo-Twister 2-Speed Hand Blender

Hamilton Beach 59770 Turbo-Twister 2-Speed Hand Blender Review

I have owned this Hamilton Beach hand mixer for a few years now. I received it as a gift from my mom about five or six years ago. At first glance it seemed to be kind of cheap, but I was wrong and have had nothing but great results from this blender.

The two speeds that the blender has are great. The slow speed is gentle but will still puree things. The fast speed does a great job for finely pureeing my sauces or soups. The attachments are easy to install and remove and cleanup is easy.

The only thing I don't like about this blender is the plastic parts. I am not too disappointed though because they have held up to any job I have given it.

If your looking for a nice hand blender for occasional use this should do perfectly and will last you for years. I would also suggest taking a look at Cuisinart's blenders because they are about the same price and have metal parts. If you need something that will take lots of abuse then look into a Robot Coupe, or other commercial mixer. I doubt the plastic parts or motor on this blender would be able to take constant use.

Both attachments twist securely onto the power handle and easily remove for hand washing. On the end of the power handle a two-speed button gives the option of low or high speed, and a five-foot cord provides good reach. good product - bi -
good price, i use it at least twice a day to prepare the baby food for my son. the hand blender just so easy to use and very powerful.

Overstated capability - Market Maven - Pico Heights, CA
Underpowered.
Underaccessorized.
Too short for practical use.
Operating speed too slow.
Dual Speed . . both too slow.
Switch position not ergonomic...nor useful.
Shaft bushing too tight a fit.
On balance, therefore: Over priced.

Works well, but retains water inside. - Sarah Schwartz - Chicago, IL
After my first hand blender (a Braun) broke after 5 years, I went shopping around for hand blenders, bought a few inexpensive ones that had various flaws (see my other reviews), and I ended up with a Braun as my second hand blender. Four years later, Braun #2 broke. I bought this one because I had seen it got good reviews on Consumer Search, and I wanted to avoid buying the hand blenders that cost twice as much.

I got it at a box store, where it was a few dollars less than here. It comes in a sturdy case, and the whisk attachment is cute. It pureed a banana in milk well on its first use, but after its first hand washing, there were big drops of water inside the clear plastic portion. I hung it to dry in our dry winter climate, and two days later, the water still hadn't evaporated. Not wanting to own a moldy hand blender, I returned it.

It's possible that it was just this particular blender that I got that was defective. It seems like these hand blenders should either have some way to prevent water from getting inside the wand, or a large opening that allows them to dry completely. For whatever reason, this one didn't dry completely.

Cuisinart HM-70 Power Advantage 7-Speed Hand Mixer, Stainless and White

Cuisinart HM-70 Power Advantage 7-Speed Hand Mixer, Stainless and White Review

Is it kinky to say that you love your hand mixer? Oh c'mon, everyone - I am using it for cooking.

After going through probably seven cheaper models in the last 10-12 years, I finally feel like I have a mixer that will last for a while. It is a little hefty weight-wise but comfortably balanced and I have not had a problem using it while holding onto a mixing bowl with the other hand.

The three mixers I had prior to this one did not have slow speeds so I really appreciate the "slow start" feature. It makes cleanup of my work area much easier. I thought at first that the beaters themselves (with no center post) would be too flimsy for heavy cookie dough, etc. but they work just great - and clean up is easier because of that feature. The swivel cord is nice. It seems like I was always turning around before to reach for something and wrapping myself up in the cord. No such problem with this mixer.

I have used it on cookie doughs, candies, quick breads, brownies, pancakes, waffles, mashing potatoes, gravies and sauces. It is a real workhorse of a mixer and as I said, I love it. It has been well worth the price. I am pretty sure I bought this mixer because of a recommendation I saw in Cook's Illustrated magazine, comparing different brands and models.

Oh, noise wise - I am partially deaf so it doesn't seem overly loud to me. And no one in my family has said anything about the noise.

Cuisinart HM-70 Power Advantage 7-Speed Hand Mixer, Stainless and White Overview

The Cuisinart Power Advantage 7 Speed Hand Mixer, flawlessly and easily mixes even the heaviest ingredients. From dense cookie dough to whipped cream, the powerful motor with automatic feedback can perform any mixing task. And the slide control easily shifts speeds with just one touch!

Gets the job done. - Billy T. Kid - California
Easy to use. Beaters are easy to clean. My only complaint is a slight wobble as if the mixer is out of balance. It seems like the shape of the beaters which are not symmetrical is causing the wobble. Otherwise, it's a good value and has plenty of power.

Did not disappoint! - Poppo in Carmel -
Purchased this mixer after researching the market, and it's performance was first rate. Has a slow start feature which prevents splatters from going everywhere. The handle is comfortable, and it is a well balanced appliance. I particularly liked the speed control and the digital display which makes it very easy to increase or decrease the speed while mixing. Would strongly recommend this product for anyone looking for quality and ease of use. We own a number of Cuisinart Kitchen appliances, and in our opinion, they're all strong performers.
